Stricter Rules for SATs to Be Applied from May
作者:21ST    来源:The Chosun Ilbo     日期: 2010-05-10
Educational Testing Service, the U.S. company that administers the Scholastic Aptitude Test and various other English proficiency tests, has decided to toughen its test-taking rules in some Asian countries, including Korea, to counter the leakage of the SAT.

ETS announced on Sunday that test-takers in Korea, Thailand and Vietnam will not be allowed to use mobile phones or other electronic devices in testing sites from May. Those aged 22 or older will be recommended to be tested separately from younger students. Passports will be the only form of identification that will be recognized for test-takers who are taking the exam in a foreign country.

The measures are intended to thwart cheating attempts taking advantage of the time differences around the world and the use of scientific calculators.

Early this year, a Korean SAT instructor leaked the test by saving questions in his scientific calculator while taking the test in Thailand and then sharing them with his students.
