Science is fun, but maybe not pretty
作者:21ST    来源:初中版第45期    日期: 2010-09-07

IF you think science is boring, maybe you haven't read about it in a horrible way!

"Horrible Science" (《可怕的科学》) is a series of books that tell kids aged 10-15 all about science in a fun and sometimes disgusting (恶心的)way.

For example, one of the book titles is "Disgusting Digestion." It tells how a person's digestive system (消化系统) works. You learn by travelling all the way from someone's throat to his stomach (胃)!

Sounds disgusting, doesn't it? That's why it says on the books that they're not for those OVER the age of 18, because only kids will be brave (勇敢的) enough to read them!

And did you know that smiling is easier than frowning (皱眉)? That might not be too interesting by itself, but this book uses a monster (怪物) to teach you!

The stories in these books are fun, but they are also full of real science. The writer is a British man named Nick Arnold. He has been writing the series for more than seven years. And he worked some with scientists (科学家) while he was writing.

The series has 60 books, and they tell about different things like science, geography (地理) and maths. So far, 34 of them have come to China.
