The website yyets.com provided free downloads of foreign TV shows and movies, and online open courses, while shooter.cn focused on free subtitle translations.
2. Why did the two sites suddenly stop their services?
Experts believe it was because they had gone against copyright law. Copyright is a kind of protection given to authors of creative works, and only the creator has the right to make copies of their work and make money from them.
3. Why is even subtitle translation a violation of copyright?
Subtitles are part of the shows, and they are copyrighted. Making your own translation for public use is making new works that use the original one, which violates copyright law.
4. What can fans of foreign TV shows do when the two sites are closed?
