Enjoy some sayings
• A young idler, an old beggar.
少壮不努力,老大徒悲伤。

  no work, no money.
无蜜蜂则无蜜甜,
不干活则没有钱。

• If there is a shortcut to learning,
  it must be hard work.
如果说学习有捷径可走,
那也一定是勤奋。

   Laziness pays off now.
勤奋工作会在远期得到回报,

What can we learn from these sayings?
 Hard work is an important part of eventual success.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
只工作,不玩耍,聪明小孩也变傻。

Based on the title, we can infer that the author is trying to show that keeping a balance between “work” and “play” can improve work efficiency.

Practice: offering gyms available all day for employees to relax themselves.

What does see “work” and “play”as the two ends of a scale mean?
It means that if a person chooses to work,
The person must give up playing and if that person plays too much, good work will be impossible.

How do the big companies describe the relationship between “work” and “play”?
They compare the relationship to two pieces of jigsaw puzzle, without either of which the other is not complete.

In conclusion, what is the writer’s proposal for preparing for an exam?
It is a good idea to have a rest from study occasionally.

Brief introduction
Ieoh Ming Pei, the 1983 Laureate [‘lɔ:riət] of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, a founding partner of I. M. Pei & Partners based in New York City was one of the most creative architects of our times. He was born in China in 1917, the son of a prominent (杰出的) banker. He went to the United States in 1935 to study architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B. Arch. 1940) and the Harvard Graduate School of Design (M. Arch. 1946).
