influential [ˌɪnfluˈenʃl]

adj.有影响力的; n.有影响力的人物（celebrity）

eg. He was one of the most influential performers of modern jazz. 他是最有影响力的现代爵士乐表演者之一。

注：influential的名词形式为influence（影响），其常用的结构为have an influence on sb

翻译：The media has a powerful influence on public opinion.

 

rise [raɪz] vi.上升，升起；起床。

eg. The sun rises in the east. 太阳从东方升起。

rising leaders 这里的意思是走红的名人，与前面的influential people呼应。

注意：rise 为不及物动词，指事物由低向高移动。

raise举起，提高，为及物动词。如 raise your hand 举手。

29-year-old 为复合形容词，前面加the表示一类人。be known/famous as 以...（头衔）为人所知

eg. The review is a brilliant piece of writing. 这篇评论很精彩。

 

drive [draɪv] v. 驾车，推动，激励

sale的常用搭配有

for sale 出售，待售        on sale 低价出售

have a big sale 大甩卖     hot sale 热销产品

 

When从句主语和主句主语是同一个时，从句的谓语为be动词+doing形式，可以把从句的主语和be动词一起省略，即when doing sth是指当做……事情时。

补充完整为：when (he is) selling lipstick.

本句意为 “...使她成为首个女性制片人”

Similar idea, different style, equally amazing

       If you’re a fan of Li Ziqi, sooner or later you’ll hear about Dianxi Xiaoge. They’re both YouTube stars from China, both good at making food, and yes, both produce amazing videos that showcase their unbelievable skills and the gorgeous scenery around their hometowns.

 

Similar Idea

   Both Li Ziqi (李子柒) and Dianxi Xiaoge (滇西小哥) focus on cooking Chinese dishes using home-grown ingredients (食材). They use traditional methods to prepare everything - meaning no modern kitchen equipment - and they both live in rural villages.   So basically, they have the same goal – to present authentic (地道的) Chinese culture and traditions via cooking.

 

Different style

   In their videos, Ziqi looks like a princess from a fairy tale, while Xiaoge is more like the girl next door.

   Ziqi is cool and elegant; Xiaoge is warm and friendly.

   Ziqi is almost silent in her videos; Xiaoge chats with everybody. However, this probably doesn’t matter to most viewers, because even to a lot of Chinese speakers, their dialects (方言) sound like a foreign language. 

 

Equally amazing

   Both Li Ziqi and Dianxi Xiaoge are successful entrepreneurs. They deserve every penny that they’ve worked to earn.

   Many more vloggers(视频播客) in China will try to repeat what Ziqi and Xiaoge have done. People from other countries might join as well. And it’s a beautiful thing.

       Artificial intelligence (AI) (人工智能) is growing rapidly. AI is a group of technologies that helps machines get, understand, and use information to do tasks.   Recent developments in AI have gotten a lot of attention. Some people have welcomed AI because it makes new things possible. For example, AI will be widely used in areas like medicine and engineering. But this attention has also produced a lot of fear. Many workers worry that AI could take their jobs.

       According to a recent study, nearly five percent of jobs will disappear because of AI. In some industries, AI is already doing the work that people used to do, such as assembling (装配) cars, digging coal and moving goods. Self-driving cars and trucks controlled by AI will also take jobs in the future.

       On the other hand, AI will also create many new jobs for people. More people will be needed to write programs for AI systems (系统), as well as set them up and maintain them. Meanwhile, jobs that require emotional intelligence or communication skills will not be replaced (取代) by AI. These include jobs in fields like teaching, nursing, and personal training.    AI is here. It is changing how people live and work in many ways. That makes AI important to watch - not to fear.
