#EmergingEnglish基础教育英语教师发展系列网络研讨会(2020.7.14-30)

英国文化教育协会(British Council)已于6月成功举办了高等教育教师发展系列的四场网络研讨会活动。现在,我们将携手国际英语外语教师协会(IATEFL)以及中国教育学会外语教学专业委员会(NAFLE)一起启动新系列活动:#EmergingEnglish基础教育英语教师发展系列研讨会


该系列网络研讨会是基于我们曾在今年4月开展的全国英语教师和教师教育者线上调查问卷结果进行设计 ,以回应和支持调查中发现的首要教师需求。研讨会旨在为目前或将来仍可能开展在线教学的教师、以及复课后进行面授教学的教师提供支持,并整合Covid-19疫情期间的教学经验中产生的英语教学实践。希望为英语教师和教师教育者们提供持续动力和支持!

每场网络研讨会,我们将邀请来自中国不同地域不同背景的教育同行,如一线教师或教育管理者,就相关主题分享他们专业知识和见解、在疫情期间教育工作中遇到的挑战、他们的成功经验以及这些经验如何融入并影响未来的教育方式,跟大家共同为英语教学的实验和实践探索新机会。

本基础教育教师发展系列网络研讨会共四场,分别于2020年7月14、16、28、30日举办,系列活动一览表如下:
 


活动语言和日程:每期研讨会将根据发言嘉宾的语言背景,采用英文或中文进行分享,时长各15分钟。研讨会直播期间将设立互动环节,参会教师可向发言嘉宾在线提问和进行交流。

每一场研讨会直播结束后,参会教师可获得研讨会相关材料以及电子证书,具体获取方法将在研讨会中由主持人公布。此外,我们还将在研讨会中分享面向英语教师和学生们的免费学习资源,请大家不要错过!

Celia Antoniou

分享主题:10 Tips for Developing Engaging Online Pedagogic Tasks!

Celia has worked as a Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Portsmouth, UK and is a Senior Teaching Fellow at IOE, UCL in London. She is also an Assistant Professor and Programme leader for the BA in ESL at UWS. She holds an M.Phil. in Applied Linguistics from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Essex, UK. Her main research interests lie in the areas of technology-enhanced learning, socio-cultural theory, teacher education and English for academic purposes. In the past, she was teaching various forms of English as a Foreign Language in a variety of contexts in Greece, Ireland and the UK. She convenes linguistics and teacher training modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with a number of distance learning units that are offered to trainee teachers. She is involved in the Technology-Enhanced Learning SIG of BALEAP and the ReSIG of IATEFL as a committee member. 
 


王珏

分享主题:The Design of Primary School Classroom Tasks

Wang Jue has 31 years of experience in English teaching and teacher training. She always adheres to the design of teacher training courses with the goal of human development, and she is adept at utilizing online, offline and offline integrated training methods to ensure  variety in the training process and the effectiveness of training results. Wangjue, is currently serving as vice-president of the Primary School Branch of the Shanghai Foreign Language Teaching Council for Primary and Secondary Schools, and has served as a member of the 2nd and 3rd expert groups of Shanghai Famous Primary English Teacher Base in charge of the planning and implementation of the Shanghai Primary School English Teacher Training Program. She has previously served as a judge and commentator for the 7th, 8th and 9th National Primary School English Teaching Contests, and is a member of the National Primary and Secondary English Teacher Training Outline Revision Group.
 


黄咏珩

分享主题:Initiating Microlearning in Primary School English to Enhance Students' Subject Knowledge and their Love for Family and Country  

Ms. Huang Yongheng holds a master's degree in English education from Leeds University, and boasts eight-years of teaching experience with 15-years of research experience in primary school English. She was named a teaching expert in the first national competition for English teachers of primary and secondary schools. 

Ms. Huang is currently one of the chief teachers in Chancheng, Foshan. She has greatly contributed to primary school English teaching in reading, unit-design and micro-courses. When online courses were mandatory during the pandemic, Ms. Huang created the new concept of “microlearning”.
 


Thomas Robb

分享主题:Active Homework Tasks for Reading, Listening and Speaking

Thomas Robb, Ph.D., University of Hawaii, is Professor Emeritus, Kyoto Sangyo University, where he was Chair of the Department of English, Faculty of Foreign Languages until he retired in March of 2017. He is a long-time user of CALL and the Internet, and has created a number of websites and applications for student projects, interactive learning, extensive reading and professional exchange. One site for extensive reading, mreader.org, now has over 100,000 student users in 40+ countries.

He has been President of JALT (The Japan Association for Language Teaching), has been on the Board of Directors of International TESOL, and is a past president of Pacific CALL. He is Chair of the Extensive Reading Foundation, the editor of TESL-EJ, the first online journal for ELT, and is a committee member in IATEFL's LitSIG. Recently he has been delivering workshops to teachers and ministry officials concerning Extensive Reading and literacy in various countries in South East Asia.

Anna Fu is the Academic Director at IELTS Smart Learning. She graduated from Oxford University with a MSc. in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition. She has been teaching in Chinese and international institutions for 2 years. Her favourite teaching tools include e-books and interactive websites from her experience as an immersion teacher in the United States. She is very interested in educational technology and how it enhances language acquisition in various learning contexts.
 


许瑾

分享主题:Teachers’ Feedback on Homework, Homework-Related Behaviours, and Academic Achievement

Over the past two decades, Xu Jin has been enthusiastically teaching English in junior high schools in Shanghai yet with deep introspection, developing an ever deeper understanding of the context. Having been the head of the teaching and research group of Shixi Junior High School for 25 years, she has won numerous top prizes in English teaching competitions at national and municipal level in her career. She has also served as a presenter at numerous professional development conferences and as a mentor and role model for early service teachers in Jingan district. Helping her students develop into successful, decent and responsible adults is her life goal, and she strongly believes learning happens when students feel safe and valued.
