IV. Language Notes
It’s necessary for the government to step in to ensure copyright and trademark protection.
政府有必要介入以确保对版权和商标权的保护。
“It’s + adj. + for sb + to do” 结构中,it是形式主语,to do是真正的主语。
此结构中,形容词仅仅描述事物,不是对不定式行为者的品格进行评价。这类形容词有difficult,easy,hard,important,dangerous, possible, impossible等,又如:
It’s very dangerous for children to cross the busy street.

如果形容词描述的是不定式行为者的性格、品质,如:kind,good,nice,right,wrong,clever,careless,polite,foolish等,则要用:“it’s + adj. + of sb + to do”结构。如:
It’s clever of you to work out the math problem. = You’re clever to work out the math problem.

The website is the work of NASA and Microsoft. Members of the public help scientists to understand Mars by looking through hundreds of thousands of photos sent back by Mars orbiters.       (2)      .
For counting craters, you just place markers (记号) on any craters that you see on a picture. In the past, counting Martian craters has been a challenge for scientists because of the vast numbers involved. But counting craters in small regions on the Martian surface will help scientist understand the relative age of these regions.       (3)      .
