A protein called FKF1.

1.What is the FKF1 protein ?
The FKF1 protein is a photoreceptor.
This means it is sensitive to, and can be activated by, sunlight.
2. How does the FKF1 protein work?
It allows plants to sense differences in day lengths so that they can tell the seasons are changing.
3.What use can we make of the FKF1 protein?
If we can control the timing of flowering, we might be able to increase plant yields by accelerating or delaying this. We can do this for crops, horticultural plants, biofuel plants, and so on.
