New technology can change our lives and help us. The article we are going to read also gives us an example. Read on to find out more.

   It describes the InterHome project and how it could be used to watch over the elderly.

She was both excited and worried about how her father would react.

III. Discussion
Have you ever had a quarrel with your parents? Who apologized first? How did the other respond?

Learning to deal with disagreements in college (PⅡ)

Background:
Culture shock is a general term for the series of personal difficulties that people go through in new places, especially places where they can’t speak the local language or don’t know the social rules.

 


II Scanning:
Read the article and answer the following questions.
•What impressed the author at first?
The enormous size of the toilet at an O'Hare airport bathroom and the endless variety of tape on display at Target.
•How does the author feel about her friends?
Some people who made ignorant comments during her college years ended up being her good friends.
•Why is the author thankful for her experience in the US?
Otherwise, she likely would have stayed in her comfort zone, meeting only people who said things that sounded right to her ears.

III. True or False
Read the article again and decide whether the following statements are true (T) or false (F).
