• Because Prince Philip is plain-speaking, while Prince William is well-mannered. They have different styles and manners in doing things. The writer makes the comparison in a humorous tone.
 
IV. Language focus-----sentence pattern
1. When Prince Philip announced in early May that he is to retire this summer, many people may have wondered what exactly it is that the husband of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II will be retiring from.
Note:
•be to do:将要做某事
•be about to do:即将,马上就要做某事
•may have wondered:情态动词may+have done 表对过去的推测
•what exactly it is that…是wonder的宾语从句,是一个强调句形式。
 
2. If there were a prize for busiest royal family member, the Queen’s only daughter, Princess Anne, would win it every year. 
Note:
•这是一个if的虚拟条件句,表达对现在的虚拟,即与现在事实相反。。
•体会if虚拟条件句的用法:
•If I were at school again, I would study harder.
•If you had come earlier, you would have caught the bus.
•If it were raining, we would not have gone climbing yesterday.
 
3. It should also be remembered that he is juggling 
(忙于应付) his job as an air ambulance pilot, his charity work in which he is so active, and raising a family.
Note:
•It should also be remembered that…是一个主语从句。该主语从句中的主要结构是he is juggling his job and raising a family.中间的his charity work in which he is so active是同位语+定语从句。

•The author introduces an old lady who studied in the same university as him. The students in the campus learned a lot from her and she taught them that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be.

•The author met Rose on his first day of school when his professor challenged them to get to know someone they didn’t already know. 
•2. Why was Rose in college at 87 years old?
•She always dreamed of having a college education and then she got one.
•3. What are the secrets to staying young?
•To stay young, you have to laugh and find humor every day and you’ve got to have a dream. 
•4. According to Rose, what’s the difference between growing old and growing up?
•In her opinion, there is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability, but growing up requires finding the opportunity in change. Have no regrets.
•5. What did Rose teach the students? 
•She taught them by example that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be.
