Microplastics are polluting Arctic snow.

What are microplastics?
They are pieces of plastic smaller than 5 millimeters.
How is plastic pollution reaching the Arctic?

 

Can microplastics get into our bodies?
Yes. If small enough, they may be absorbed into our bodies and it is hard to get rid of them.

What will be the consequences?
Microplastics may result in lung cancer.

Besides in the air, where else are microplastics found? What is the consequence?
They are also found in water of rivers and oceans, which damages ecosystems.

How do they influence humans?
Sea animals may eat plastic fibers found in water, then humans if eat those sea animals we also eat the plastic inside them as well, which negatively effect our health.

IV. Discussion
Imagine you were a polar bear, what would you want to say to humans?

What do you think people can do to reduce plastic pollution?
    Plastic pollution is much more serious than we thought!
    It is the hidden killer, which is invading (侵入) our life secretly through water, air, and soil.
Plastics are polluting our drinking water, killing animals, and if burnt, they will let out poisonous gas that can cause different types of cancers.
    If nothing is done about it, by 2050 we will be surrounded by 12 billion tonnes of plastic trash.

- The government must make laws.
 - Enterprises are finned for causing excessive environmental damage.

     Businesses are supposed to change their attitude, stop producing disposable plastic products, and design environmentally friendly products from the source.

     Consumers should raise their awareness of protecting the environment by, refusing to use disposable plastic packaging and reusing recyclable packaging.
