In a society, people could become more beautiful through a surgery. Would you like to have this kind of surgery?

The Chinese animated film The Town (《修容镇》) addresses issues on social norms.

Read the article and answer the following questions.
1. What achievement has the film attained?
In July, the 27-minute animation won the Jean-Luc Xiberras Award for First Film at the 44th Annecy International Animated Film Festival, which is often called the “Oscars of animated films”.

2. What’s the setting of the film?
The setting itself is a town with cobblestone alleyways (鹅卵石小巷) and houses with black tiles (瓦) and white walls in which people strongly believe they'll live better lives after having a surgery.

3. What’s the film mainly about?
The main character Laiyong – a young boy – does not accept the social norm of doing a surgery and tries to escape the town. This goes against the views of his sister, who is a mask maker and also wants to have the surgery.  

4. What does the film want to tell people?
The film “will help the audience think more about the contradictions (矛盾) between individuality and social conformity (遵从)”.

5. What makes the film differ from modern TV anime?
The naturalistic character designs are not the wide-eyed images found in modern TV anime. It focuses on the subtle individuality of each character – in movement, in speech, or even down to the loving details shown in each hand-made mask.
