·When the COVID-19 (新冠肺炎) vaccine (疫苗) arrives, will you get it?

·Have you ever gotten the flu vaccine?

Flu is a common infection (感染) of the nose and throat, and sometimes the lungs. It is caused by a virus (病毒) that passes from one person to another.

The flu causes muscle (肌肉) pain, sudden high body temperature, breathing problems and weakness.

Predict: rescue - the act of saving sb/sth from a dangerous or difficult situation

Look at the title and the picture. What are we going to read about?

II. While reading

  Get a flu vaccine.

·Who should be the first to get flu vaccines?

     groups.

(F) 2. China's flu vaccination rate will be much higher than the US this year.

(T) 3. People are learning that vaccines prevent us from getting infected (传染).

III. Further reading

Read the passage and choose the answer.

The flu can be dangerous. It can give you a fever. Sometimes, it can even kill people. The worst flu killed about 50 million people from 1918 to 1919.

Don‘t worry. If you get a flu vaccine (疫苗), it can stop you from getting the virus (病毒). Flu vaccines work by giving body a small amount of flu viruses. This causes your body to develop antibodies (抗体). So the next time you get the flu, the antibodies can help you.

The flu virus changes every few years. There are many types of flu, such as H1N1 and H5N1. The antibodies for one type of flu can't protect us from all types of flu. That's why we need to get the vaccine every year.

However, good habits can also stop you from developing a cold or flu. Washing your hands often can stop you from getting sick. It is also important to get regular exercise and eat healthy food. All of these things can strengthen your immune system (增强免疫系统).

IV. Further reading

If you want to do a school project on children's rights, you can find more information online.

The United Nations lists the rights of children. Most countries agree to all of them, but some countries do not. The following are some of the most important rights of children.

Children have the right to be properly fed, clothed and sheltered

(庇护) by their family. If their family can't do so, the government should take responsibility.

Children have the right to get education and medical care, which should be provided by the government.

Children must not be cruelly punished (惩罚) by their parents or any others.

No child under fifteen should be forced to fight in the military.

Children have the right to be protected from being made to work too hard to make money for other people.

In some countries, children do not have these rights. In some countries, there are so few schools that only rich children can go to them. There are not enough doctors or nurses to help many children when they are sick.

The rights of children are, therefore, the rights people think children should have. They are not always the rights that children actually have.
