·Have you ever seen this kind of color and pattern on clothes?

·It is made through an ancient Chinese dyeing skill – tie-dye (扎染).

·What dye (染料) did ancient people use to do tie-dye?

II. While reading

·What can we learn from this paragraph?

  Tie-dye was a way for ancient people to make colorful clothes.

  More than 1,000 years ago.

 

·Who created the skill?

  Bai ethnic group (白族) in Yunnan

 

·When did tie-dye become popular in China?

  During the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties

 

·How do people do tie-dye?

  They tie, sew, or clip cloth together and then put it in dye.

  It has unique patterns and the color is irregular (不规则的).
