Time   Achievements
in 2011    She began refereeing men’s soccer in the French third division, and she was the only female on the pitch at that time.
in 2019    Frappart became the first woman to officiate (主持) the men’s UEFA Super Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea.
in 2019    She refereed the Women’s World Cup final between the US and the Netherlands and became the first female referee to take charge of a French Ligue 1 match.
in 2020    She became the first female to referee a men’s UEFA Champions League match.
2. What kind of person is Stephanie? Find the evidence from the passage.
strong-willed and determined
When she faces doubts and disrespect due to her gender, Frappart stands strong and continues to prove herself.
In October 2015, the Valenciennes manager, David Le Frapper, railed against the non-award of a penalty to his team. “The penalty was clear but the referee didn’t see it, maybe she was ice skating,” Le Frapper told The Guardian. “When you are a woman and you come to referee a man’s sport, it’s complicated.”
2. What kind of person is Stephanie? Find the evidence from the passage.
Inspirational
“It’s a real pleasure to show it is possible, young girls see me on TV and know it’s possible. I hope this will stimulate them to pursue their vocations.”
--Frappart
3. What influence does Stephanie have?
To have someone like Srephanie, who is really breaking down barriers at the top end of the game, is huge for the future of female refereeing, for girls to be able to actually see that what they dream of and what they aspire (渴望) to can be a reality. What's remarkable about Stephanie and the appointments she's receiving is that it proves that gender really doesn't matter.
