The payment process is free of risk.

After upgrading, you can use e-CNY in addition to other electronic payments.

IV. Further thinking
Why is China developing digital currency?
It’s designed as a replacement of the Reserve Money system, cutting back the cost and friction of bank transfers.
It can reduce the risk of counterfeit money transactions as well as money laundering. Regulators can better monitor digital currency transactions.
E-CNY can also reduce the costs involved in maintaining and recycling banknotes and coins.
Furthermore, the issuance of e-CNY is conducive to promoting the internationalisation of the RMB and reshaping the current cross border payment system.
