The university not only trained a large number of intellectual elites(知识精英分子), but also made great achievements in the areas of scientific research and pedagogy. Its professors were in charge of both teaching and managing the school. Their teaching and management methods were a key factor in improving the school’s teaching quality. Their reputation(名声) also helped build bridges between the university and the government.

III. Further reading Why we need Tianwen 1 Tianwen 1 will give China valuable Mars experience and lay the groundwork for a possible sample return mission planned for the end of the 2020s. Getting Martian samples back to Earth is a top priority for the scientific community (科学界). Despite the impressive advances made in placing miniature (微型的)science instruments on spacecraft, only Earth-bound technology can date samples with absolute precision(精确), reproduce scientific results, and verify the presence(存在) or absence of life in a sample. Before Zhurong, only NASA had successfully landed and operated spacecraft on Mars. More countries exploring Mars and our solar system means more discoveries and opportunities for global cooperation(合作). Space exploration brings out the best in us all - and when nations work together, everyone wins. Tianwen means “questions to heaven,” or “questioning the heavens.” You can listen to a pronunciation of Tianwen by Quanzhi Ye. All interplanetary(星际的) Chinese missions are expected to carry the Tianwen moniker going forward.
