2. Who first put forward the idea of a zero-waste life? What exactly does it refer to?
The idea of a zero-waste life was first put forward by French author Bea Johnson.
Her idea was: Live a life while hardly creating rubbish; spare no efforts to save the environment, such as avoiding single-use objects; instead of throwing away unwanted things into landfills, people can donate them to others or organizations like the Red Cross.

3. Why did Yu Yuan begin her zero-waste life? And how?
She felt “much lighter” with less stuff after throwing out 80 percent of her belongings and keeping only the essentials when she moved out of her rental house.
Nearly every object in her minimalist (极简的) apartment is selected with reusability and low environmental impact in mind. Yu also wears second-hand clothing and avoids restaurants that use disposable ( 一次性的) chopsticks.
