While-reading

Astronauts Tang Hongbo, Jing Haipeng, Liu Boming return safely from space.

Sept 17 was Chinese astronaut Liu Bomings 55th birthday. He said it was his most memorable (值得纪念的) birthday.

That’s the day he returned to Earth. He was on the Shenzhou XII spacecraft from China’s Tiangong space station, along with his crewmates Jing Haipeng and Tang Hongbo.

In fact, returning from space is challenging. Chinese scientists and astronauts made full preparations and succeeded!

Their parachutes (降落伞) also helped the spacecraft in its return. When it was about 10 kilometers above the ground, it still traveled at 200 meters per second. Thats twice the speed of a high-speed train!

1. at 200 meters per second 200米每秒(的速度)

2. contact with 中的contact是名词,意为“与….的联系”

3. twice在此处意为“两倍”。

To slow it down step by step, small parachutes were used, then the giant main chute. The chute package is less than 100 kilograms and can be packed (打包) into a bag the size of only two suitcases. Chinese scientists developed these special parachutes on their own.

1. slow down 减速
