Character: Meng Wanzhou

Identity: Huawei Chief Financial Officer

Background: Meng was detained by the Canadian police at the request of the US on Dec 1, 2018, accused of violating US sanctions against Iran.

Causes of the charges: The charges against Meng are pure fabrication, which was meant to suppress Chinese high-tech enterprises.

Result: Meng Wanzhou returned to China after being detained arbitrarily (无理的) for nearly three years in Canada. Her return was a victory for the Chinese people and government.

V. Post reading

Combined with Meng Wanzhou's words, talk about your understanding of the people-centered policy.

  Everyone will experience setbacks and unfair treatment, but complaining and crying are useless.

  What we need to do is to believe in justice and efforts. Most importantly, we must believe in our country. As Ms Meng Wanzhou said, “If faith has color, I think it must be Chinese red.”

  As we all know, if you keep the country and people in mind, the country and people will keep you in mind.
