疑问词+动词不定式(wh-+to do)可在句子中充当主语,宾语,表语,同位语,例如:When to hold the meeting has not yet been decided.

    这种结构可以和复合句转换。如:

    I don’t know what to do next.= I don’t know what I’ll do next

 

一般情况下过去分词本身作定语的时候需要前置,只有当过去分词与副词、介词构成短语作定语的时候,需要后置定语。过去分词在句子中作定语的时候,有两层含义:表示动作或者状态已经完成、发生;表示被动的含义。

例如:a boy called Jack

      a gift given by my grandmother

      the medicine taken two hours ago
