I. Pre-reading

Look at the pictures and talk about the question: why do they cry?

 

II. While reading

1. win – won – won  v. 赢得

2. couldn't help crying  情不自禁哭出来

  can't help doing sth 情不自禁做某事

  eg. I can't help laughing when I look at this photo.

 

1. stand for  代表，象征

  eg. Chinese knots (中国结) stand for friendship, love and good luck.

2. sadness n.悲伤  happiness n.开心，幸福

  -ness是名词后缀，用法通常为形容词(adj.)+ness变为名词，

  eg. busy – business   kind – kindness

 

1. popular adj. 受欢迎的

2. although, though 虽然；but 但是；because 因为；so 所以等关联词语在英文中使用时，切记避免重复，用一个即可。

3. be (not) good for ... 对……有(无)益处 

  eg. Drinking honey water is good for us.

 

1. make作为使役动词，译为“使...，让...”，用法是：

  ① make sb do sth 使(让)某人做...

     eg. Their story makes me cry.

  ② make sb + adj. 使某人...  

     eg. You always make me happy.

2. beat v. (心脏)跳动  beat – beat – beaten

3. be good at = do well in 擅长做某事

4. want (sb) to do sth 想要(某人)做某事

5. make a decision  做决定(v.)

  decision-making 做决定(n.) 动词短语单词换个位置，中间加上“-”，就会变成名词。      

  eg. tell a story & story-telling

6. either

  ① adv. 也(常用于否定句末)

     too 也(多用于肯定句末) ；also 也(多用于肯定句中)

  ② either... or... 要么...要么...；或者...或者...

     eg. You can either stay here or go with them.

     Either you or he is wrong./ Either he or you are wrong.

7. calm down 冷静下来

注：either...or...连接主语时，谓语在人称和数上要与临近的主语保持一致（就近原则）。

2. from... to... 从...到...

阅读理解小技巧：

一读：读题目，找关键词，多为名词。Aragon, tears ...

二分：分类型，细节题和主旨题

三用：用方法。

      细节题：根据关键词锁定答案位置，注意肯定否定，代词指代等细节。

      主旨题：文章中心句多在首段尾段，段落中心句多在首句末句。
