Day 5
阅读下面短文,并根据内容选出最佳选项。
Joining a book club is a great way to meet new people and be introduced to books that you might not otherwise read. The steps below will help you find a book club that fits your needs and become an active and successful participant.
1. Decide what type of book club you want to join. There are many different kinds. Some are comprised (由……组成) of members of a certain neighborhood or group and others have broader membership but are dedicated (致力于) to a certain type of book (i.e. nonfiction, graphic novels, etc.). Decide what you want to get out of the book club. Are you looking primarily to meet new people or to explore a certain type of book.
2. Find a club that meets your needs. Local, independent bookstores are your best resource. Many bookstores sponsor (赞助) book clubs or at least allow clubs to advertise. Find a club that interests you and contact the organizer for information on how to join.
3. Buy and read the club’s current book. If it is a bookstore-sponsored group, the store will often have a special display for club books and may even offer them at a discount (折扣). Make sure you get the book in time to finish it. Most clubs meet once a month, so try to get the book at least a few weeks in advance.
4. Talk to the group’s organizer and get to know the vibe of the group. Some groups take the books they read very seriously, others use them as an excuse to get together and socialize. Talking with the organizer and, if possible, other members before the first meeting will help you know what to expect.
5. At the first meeting, don’t be shy, but don’t be a bore either. People don’t join book clubs to listen to long boring lectures, so don’t over prepare with too many comments on the book. Just add your two cents in an unpretentious (谦逊的) fashion and make amiable (亲切的), non-book related small talk. If you do this then you will fit in to the group in no time.

1. What is this article’s main point?
A. To explore the benefits of joining a book club.
B. Tips on how to enjoy a book club.
C. Examining the main problems that come with joining a book club.
D. To list different types of book clubs.
2. Before you join a book club, ______.
A. you should visit local independent bookstores
B. you’d better make friends with the club organizer
C. you should buy and read all the books the club recommends
D. you should get information about it
3. What are you advised to do at your first book club meeting?
A. Give a detailed introduction about yourself.
B. Talk more about fashion.
C. Make brief and polite comments.
D. Make friends with everyone at the club.
