My Neighbor’s Baby Never Stops Crying – Is There Anything I Can Do?

(Rate this article)

A crying baby presents a tough situation. It’s easy to complain about loud music or thumping on the walls, but we all know that parents have far less control over the volume of a crying child than the volume (音量) of their stereo (音响). Still, you are entitled to peace and quiet in your own apartment, and you can’t be expected to lie awake night after night listening to someone else’s child cry. First, as with any other noise problem, speak to your neighbors; there may be something they can do to reduce the problem. Remember, though, that the new mom you’re speaking to is probably sleep deprived (剥夺) and already committed to reducing that crying – don’t approach her as if you think she can just press a button and solve the problem. If that doesn’t help and the problem is serious enough, speak to your property (物业) manager. While the situation may require more creativity and compromise (妥协) than most noise problems, management can work with you and your neighbor to find a resolution that works for everyone.
