Day 4

根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
Every language student needs strategies (策略) to learn more thoroughly (透彻地). SOAPSTone is the first one I learned when I arrived in the US. Originally considered as a method for dissecting (详细分析) the work of professional writers, SOAPSTone provides a strategy to help me identify and use certain central components (成分) as a basis for my own writing.
SOAPSTone is an acronym (首字母缩略词) for a series of questions that we must first ask ourselves, and then answer, as we begin to plan our compositions.
1. ______
Before we begin to write, we must decide whose voice is going to be heard. Whether this voice belongs to a fictional (虚构的) character or to the writer, we should determine how to add and develop the attributes (特性) of the speaker that will influence the meaning of the piece.
2. ______
Writing does not occur in a vacuum (真空). All writers are influenced by the larger occasion: an environment of ideas, attitudes and emotions around a broad issue. Then there is the immediate occasion: a situation that catches the writer’s attention and causes a response.
3. ______
As we begin to write, we must determine who the audience is that we intend to address. It may be one person or a specific (特定的) group. This choice of audience will affect how and why we write a particular text.
4. ______
To develop the argument and its logic (逻辑), we should ask ourselves: “What do I want my audience to think or do as a result of reading my text?”
5. ______
We should be able to state the subject in a few words or phrases. This step helps us to focus on the intended task throughout the writing process.

A. What is the Order?
B. Who is the Audience?
C. What is the Purpose?
D. What is the Subject?
