Day4
根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出正确的填入空白处。选项中有两项为多余选项。
It’s a common situation to start a day – you struggle to get out of bed in the morning, feeling tired and weak.
You’re not alone. As a recent article in The Huffington Post pointed out, today so many of us struggle with not getting enough sleep that we become really tired. 1 So, we are “t’wired” – tired and wired (极度兴奋的) at the same time.
It is a “relentless (无休无止的) lifestyle”, according to The Huffington Post. We are lost in information and entertainment choices. 2 We are walking, talking, typing and thinking faster and faster.
3 – how to truly rest, noted Rubin Naiman, a writer for Psychology Today magazine. “We commonly confuse rest with [having fun]. Catching a movie, going dancing or watching a TV show may be enjoyable and refreshing (放松的) – but they’re not true rest,” he said.
4
First slow and then stop, suggested The Huffington Post. We should “turn off the cell phone and computer before going to bed”, said the Daily Mail.
5 We need to do “a daily practice such as meditation (冥想), yoga or breathing exercises that slow the body and mind”, said Naiman.
“In a world gone mad with [high speed], practicing true rest is a subversive (颠覆性的) act,” noted The Huffington Post. “It invites us to march to a different drum, to the beats of nature.”

A. True rest is about finding a state of inner peace.
B. We often run after fame and ignore people around us.
C. We feel a need to always be active and productive.
D. You can’t imagine how much fun true rest can bring us.
E. So how can we become less t'wired and more well-rested?
F. But, the problem is, too many of us have forgotten how to rest.
G. Meanwhile, our fast modern lifestyles drive us to feel wide awake.

Day5
阅读下面的材料并根据内容选择最佳选项。
Grand Canyon National Park
Grand Canyon National Park is located entirely in northern Arizona. The park takes up 277 miles of the Colorado River and nearby uplands. One of the most spectacular examples of erosion (侵蚀) anywhere in the world, the Grand Canyon is unmatched in the beautiful views it offers to visitors on the rim (边缘). The Grand Canyon became a National Park on Feb 26, 1919 and was made a World Heritage Site in 1979.
• Grand Canyon Hotels, Lodging and Camping
The South Rim has quite a collection of lodges and hotels in Grand Canyon National Park. There is also a large campground at the Grand Canyon Village called Mather Campground (open year-round) and the Desert View Campground, which is open from mid-May through mid-October. In the town of Tusayan, just outside the south entrance station, are the Grand Canyon Squire Inn, Grand Canyon Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Quality Inn, Red Feather Lodge, Seven Mile Lodge and the Grand Hotel. On the North Rim the Grand Canyon Lodge is the only lodging inside the Grand Canyon National Park. The North Rim also closes in the winter when snows block the roads. The North Rim Campground is open from mid-May to mid-October.
• Activities and Park Use in the Grand Canyon
The canyon may be viewed from the rim at a number of overlooks along Desert View Drive (26 miles from Grand Canyon Village to Desert View) and Hermit Road (nine miles from Grand Canyon Village to Hermits Rest; closed to private vehicles during shuttle bus season, when it may be accessed by free park shuttles). Visitors may also hike along the rim on the Rim Trail or below the rim on a number of inner canyon trails. All hiking at Grand Canyon is strenuous, due to the altitude (the South Rim is 7000 feet above sea level) and extreme temperatures (up to 120° F in the inner canyon). The park offers a variety of activities at the Grand Canyon including mule tours, helicopter tours, bus tours, jeep tours, train rides and plane flights throughout the year.
• Climate of Grand Canyon National Park
The South Rim is 7000 feet above sea level, which means snow in winter and cool nights even in summer. Inner canyon hiking (below the rim) is another story, however, summer temperatures along the Colorado River at the canyon bottom can reach 120o F. The North Rim is 8000 feet above sea level and can receive snow throughout most of the year. The weather is particularly changeable in the spring and fall; visitors should be prepared for a variety of climates.
• Visitor Totals to the Grand Canyon
There are over five million visitors per year. Peak season runs from April through October; winter holiday weekends are also crowded. Summers are extremely crowded.

1. If you want to spend a night inside the park in December, you can choose ______.
A. Mather Campground
B. the Grand Hotel
C. the Grand Canyon Squire Inn
D. The North Rim Campground
2. It is suggested that those who are strong and love to challenge themselves _______.
A. drive in the canyon B. hike along the rim
C. take helicopter tours D. take park shuttles
3. Which of the following about the Grand Canyon National Park is TRUE?
A. Free park shuttles are accessible all year round.
B. Winter is the best season for visitors, presenting the best view and fewer people.
C. If you want to avoid the biggest crowds, you should not visit in the summer.
D. It is usually very cool in the Grand Canyon National Park.
