参考答案:

I.

1. The probe is the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agencys (JAXA) Hayabusa 2. It discovered amino acidsin sand samples brought back to Earth from the Ryugu asteroid, the first time that amino acids have been discovered outside Earth.

2. Amino acids combine to form proteins, the building blocks for life.

3. Experts previously said the samples are the most primitive material in the solar system we have ever studied. The unprecedented discovery of multiple types of amino acids on an extraterrestrial body could hint at the existence of life outside of Earth. The latest discovery will likely reinforce this theory that the amino acids came to ancient Earth by meteorite.

4. Simply having the basic ingredients for dough doesnt mean it can lead to the creation of pizza. Similarly, discovering amino acids in space doesnt necessarily prove the existence of life beyond our home planet.

5. NASA has a similar mission to asteroid Bennu. Its OSIRIS-REx probe has already collected samples and is expected to return to Earth with them sometime next year. By comparing the results of Ryugus sample material with samples collected from the asteroid Bennu, scientists will better understand the various chemical mixtures in the universe and how life began.

II.

1. sample

2. clue

3. unprecedented

4. multiple
