During Twain’s lifetime, the book was banned by some libraries because the main character, Huck Finn, often told lies. In recent decades, schools have banned it because some of the book’s characters use racist language.

They placed two groups of electrodes to the speech centers of the patient’s brain. The team tested 10 words, such as “yes”, “no”, “more”, “less”, “hungry” and “thirsty” that a patient might need. The volunteer spoke each word 31 to 96 times while the researchers measured brain waves on a computer.

The researchers could tell the difference between two words, 90% of the time. When trying to distinguish  among all 10 words, their best result was 48%.
