Do you often eat out? When?
Whether in a restaurant or in a home, here are some basic table manners – make sure you follow them!
1. Eat with a knife and fork unless the food is meant to be eaten with fingers.
2. Sit up and do not hunch over your plate.
3. Don't stuff your mouth full of food.
4. Chew with your mouth closed.
5. Don't make rude comments about any of the food being served.
6. Always say thank you when served something.
7. Eat slowly and don't gobble your food.
8. Don't reach over someone's plate to get something.
9. Do not pick anything out of your teeth – it's gross.

“Take away” means people order something in a restaurant and take it home to eat or order something by phone for the restaurant to deliver to their house.
2. Do Brits often eat out? On what kind of occasions do they dine out?
No. They usually eat in a restaurant as a treat, for example on a first date, or if celebrating an anniversary or a birthday or before going to the cinema or the theatre.
3. What is considered impolite when you are eating according to the article?
Not eating with a knife or fork or holding your knife and fork in the wrong hand or using them in the wrong way, or putting your elbows on the dining table.
