Most of the hungriest people are to be found in Africa. F 3. Some people are obese because they eat too much food containing lots of sugar, fat and salt, and fewer vitamins (维生素) and minerals. T 4. It is time the rich helped the poor, according the IFRC. T II. Sentence Replacement It is terrible to see people in Africa, Asia and Latin America suffering from lack of food. Even though the stalls are filled with fruit and vegetables, they have no money to pay for them. KEY: It is heartbreaking to see pictures of towns in Africa, Asia and Latin America, where people are starving next to stalls (摊点) heavy with fruit and vegetables that they cannot afford. III. Fill in the blanks • 1. “Starvation” is defined as being so underweight that (体重不足) it is damaging to your health, while obesity is the opposite. • 2. Hunger exists because of poor distribution (分配) and waste, according to the IFRC. • 3. the majority of people living in absolute poverty (赤贫) can be found on small farms. • 4. The IFRC is urging(强烈要求)governments, charities (慈善机构) and ordinary people worldwide to make sure food is shared around the world. V.
