Write down your designs of the following inventions. Please work with your partners.
underwater homes (group 1-3)

3-D food printers (group 4-6)

flying cars (group 7-9)

Read the passage carefully to improve your design.
A population increase has resulted in a space shortage on the ground. This has led to the building of underwater homes. These homes, which have floating waterproof domes, can sit as low as 15 kilometers below the ocean. They are made from stretchable materials, so their rooms are adjustable in size on demand. In addition, they are powered by special generators which take advantage of the varied temperatures at different depths of the ocean.
The busy people of the future will rarely have time to cook. It may be typical of many kitchens to be equipped with a 3-D printer. On top of that, 3-D printed foods will have the same flavor and nutritional values as the original recipe.
In the future, flying cars will be used to avoid traffic congestion. They will take off and land vertically. They will mixing the strengths of a helicopter and an airplane. As a result, a 2-hour taxi ride today will take just fifteen minutes in the future.

“Every coin has two sides.” Write down the advantages and disadvantages of the inventions. Talk about it with your partner.

Possible version:
With the fast development of science and technology, life in the future will be very different from now. Things like underwater houses, 3-D printed clothing and foods, and flying cars are likely to come into use in the future.
Take 3-D printed foods as an example. With people becoming busier, they will rarely have time to cook. In the future, many kitchens will be equipped with a 3-D printer, which will get online recipes from professional chiefs and offer people their favorite foods at any time they please.
We will enjoy the convenience, but we will have to be aware that every coin has two sides. Though 3-D printed foods will have the same flavor and nutritional values as the original recipes and free us from the work of making it, we may lose the pleasure of making food ourselves. On top of that, a 3-D printer, which could only do what humans told it to, could not create cuisine itself.
Taking all these factors into consideration, we will need to carefully weigh the advantages and disadvantages of new inventions in the future.
