Can we save them?

   There is bad news coming for polar bears. The animals might disappear by the end of this century (世纪) because of global warming, according to a new report in the journal Nature Climate Change.

   Polar bears mainly eat seals (海豹). They look for seals on floating (漂浮的) sea ice. If there isn’t any sea ice around, the bears have to stay on land (陆地), where there is no food for them. They burn their body fat (脂肪) during this time until they can find food again.

   The sea ice in the Arctic is melting (融化) faster because of warming weather (变暖的天气). The bears have fewer places to find seals. They have to stay on land even longer.
