What did you learn from the two scientists?
I learned a lot from the two scientists. Although they came from small towns, they have made names for themselves. They are passionate about their research and they have clear life goals. Charpentier thinks what defines her is not her gender, her role as a scientist. She hopes that she and her partner’s discovery will encourage more young girls to follow the path of science. They really set a good example for us.

Language focus
1.And while other outstanding females have followed in her footsteps, the number pales in comparsion to their males counterparts.

3. Scientists have developed crops that are able to withstand drought and disease with the help of the tool.

e.g. She failed to withstand the stresses and strains of public life.

4. Another thing they share in common is a passion for science.

e.g. Her passion for dancing never dimmed over the years.
