听力原文:
My grandfather is a teacher. He is the head teacher of a school for boys between the ages of 13 and 18. I know that he is a kind man, because he gives me presents and tells me stories. But the boys at his school are afraid of him. At school, when he walks into a room, they are quiet at once. When he looks at a boy with a certain look in his eyes, that boy's face goes red, and he looks down at his shoes. If a boy brings careless work to class, my grandfather will get very angry and ask him to do it again.

听力原文:
Miss Gorgers taught physics at a New York school. Last month, she explained to one of her classes about sound, and she decided to test them. She said to them, “Now, I have a brother in Los Angeles. If I was calling him on the phone, and at the same time, you were 75 feet away listening to me from across the street, which of you would hear what I said sooner, my brother or you. And for what reason?”
Tom answered at once, “Your brother, because electricity travels faster than sound waves.” “That's very good,” Miss Gorgers answered. But then one of the girls raised her hand, and Miss Gorgers said, “Yes, Kate?”
“I disagree,” Kate said. “Your brother would hear you sooner because when it's 11 o'clock here it's only 8 o'clock in Los Angeles.”

听力原文:
Tom was happy to get one dollar from his father. He wanted to buy a toy with it. So he put on his hat and ran into the street. He met some boys throwing snowballs. He joined them. When he threw a snowball, he broke a window on the other side of the street. Tom was afraid and ran. But soon he realized it was wrong to break the window. He would pay for it.
He went back to the house and saw an old man. Tom told him what he had done, and he gave the man the dollar he had. The old man took the dollar, and asked Tom his name and where he lived. During dinner, Tom’s father told him to go and look in his hat. Tom found two dollars there! His father told Tom that an old man came and gave back his dollar and another one because he thought Tom was an honest boy.
